We are a collaborative team in the Wilmington region comprised of representatives from local governments, academia, economic development organizations, and the private sector committed to developing a marine biotechnology and life sciences cluster in southeastern North Carolina. Our mission is to drive cross-sector cooperation to create a team focused on growing the talent pipeline, increasing access to capital and technical support, and fostering growth of the Marine and Life Sciences sectors.
The North Carolina Biotechnology Center leads life science technology based economic development for North Carolina by supporting the progression of ideas from research lab to the marketplace. NCBiotech invests in technology development through grants, in company development through loans, and in economic development through infrastructure grants. NCBiotech’s programs and activities target emerging sectors and work across North Carolina to develop strengths that yield jobs in the life sciences. NCBiotech is a private non-profit corporation funded by the General Assembly.
North Carolina Sea Grant provides research, education and outreach opportunities relating to current issues affecting the North Carolina coast and its communities. We facilitate funding of millions of state and federal dollars to conduct university-based research, outreach and education programs each year. This research fuels outreach and education programs that promote discovery, learning, new research and awareness across the state and the nation.
The NCEast Alliance is a regional, public/private, not-for-profit, economic development corporation serving 28 counties with approximately 1.2 million residents within several small metropolitan and micropolitan areas in eastern North Carolina from the fringe of the Research Triangle to the Atlantic Coast. The Alliance provides community capacity building, marketing/lead generation, assists companies with site location and expansion evaluations and advocates for the development of eastern North Carolina.
